Shadi Henrico

Shadi started training dogs in 1983. After 28 years of training with older techniques, Shadi decided to start her own training school in 2011 using the principles of positive reinforcement training. The change has not been easy, but in Shadi 's words "Change is difficult, but change is good! And the positive reinforcement method really works".

In September 2011 Shadi opened The Dog Academy with Werner Roos, and the school continues to grow each month. While Shadi is a very experienced instructor, she is very open to new learning experiences and often spends time observing different trainers in action. Shadi provides private training sessions as well as private training.

In her personal capacity over 35 years Shadi has competed in various grades and disciplines including KUSA obedience trials, Beginners, Novice A Class, Working Trials as well as Companion Dog and Canine Good Citizen. She has also competed in breed shows and frequently handled dogs for different people. She is an active IPO handler. Since starting the new school and using positive reinforcement techniques,

She trained and prepared puppies as well as young dogs for scent detection work at the airport.

Shadi currently has 2 GSD's and her daughter, Benita owns 2 Border Collies which participates in agility as well as obedience, tracking and bite work. Benita is currently third Junior Agility Handler in SA (2018).
